My academic journey began at Boston Latin School, ranked among the top 25 schools in the nation at the time of my entry in 2019. BLS provided me an education rooted in tradition and academic excellence. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the conventional system of learning, challenging me to adapt and navigate the evolving educational landscape.
BLS RC promotes environmental sustainability within Boston Latin. I actively participated in recycling efforts as a dedicated member of the Recycling Committee, in the hopes of reducing our environmental footprint. I contributed by collecting, sorting, and recycling various materials within our school, ensuring that recyclable items were properly disposed of and repurposed.
During the summer, I dedicated my spare time to making a positive impact in a young student's life by providing tutoring in both mathematics and English. It was an incredibly rewarding experience, as I witnessed the child's confidence and understanding of these subjects grow steadily throughout our sessions. My daily responsibilities during this time were to plan and manage engaging lessons.
Reentering high school after COVID posed a significant challenge for me, as I initially struggled with readjustment. However, recognizing the need for self-improvement, I dedicated myself to personal development. Since then, I actively sought growth by joining various clubs, including badminton, volleyball, robotics, and recycling, which fostered my well-being and academic pursuits.
BLS BC is a continuation of the original Badminton Club. The officers (including me) of BLS BC were members of the original back when they were in Class VI. However, that past club has been disbanded due to all the officers graduating. Thus, in 2022, we decided to come together and revive Badminton Club, hoping that it will grow and foster a great community at BLS.
In my sophomore year, I decided to explore my athletic interests by joining the school's volleyball team. Engaging in volleyball not only allowed me to develop coordination but also provided a unique way to socialize with students who shared a passion for the sport. Balancing my involvement required a daily commitment beyond school hours, that necessitated proper time management.
During my time at Digital Ready, I built a strong foundation in IT services, Python programming, and UI/UX design. As I sharpened my skills, I discovered how to effectively blend these technologies to create practical and captivating websites. Through this transformative experience, my enthusiasm for combining design and software was further solidified.
I am a founding member, and Vice-President of BLS Hack Club, associated with the international Hack Club organization. It is open to all students in Boston Latin School and aims to create a diverse coding community by providing educational resources for learning to code and a platform for the global Hack Club association. We hope to gather like-minded individuals and help them stand out in the digital industry.
The process while developing my portfolio website compelled me to share my passion to other students. Realizing that there wasn’t a strong community for software at BLS, I took initiative to establish a club aimed at generating interest for those who share similar hobbies. We extend beyond merely crafting websites and delve into the intricacies of how the web functions.
AFH is an organization that aims to provide the youth with resources and opportunities for a career in the art industry. During my time working here, I collaborated with peers on implementing creative technologies for both client and personal projects. Under the guidance of mentors, I was able to enhance my expertise on a variety of skills, ranging from programming to 3D applications in software.
In December, I participated in my first competitive programming contest hosted by USACO. Though initially challenging, the experience provided valuable insights into my strengths and areas for improvement. Following this, I engaged in additional contests such as ACSL and LeetCode. For a detailed record of my contributions across these events, please refer to the provided document (Learn More).
Volunteered for three months as a developer for Unity Provisions, creating a platform that allows users to input a location and find nearby emergency food services. Many food lifelines are not easily accessible. This application intends to bridge the gap by mapping the pantries in the Greater Boston area. Partnering organizations, such as the Wang YMCA of Chinatown, are supporting its use.
Studied applied mathematics at Northeastern University's Bridge to Calculus program over the summer. I honed my skills in task automation and software development using Arduino. Additionally, I gained valuable insights into ethical research methodologies, advanced my understanding of statistics, and explored key concepts in financial analysis.
